The corporate food industry takes advantage of our cognitive biases, leaving consumers vulnerable to making poor dietary choices. Low income populations and communities of color are disproportionately targeted by food industry tactics. This primer draws from behavioral sciences to explain these tactics and provide examples of counteracting strategies that push for better and more equitable public health outcomes.
